New Approach
So I'm going to take a new approach to this oft-neglected blog of mine. Given my schedule and laziness, I'm just going to blog when I travel. During the school year, I'm just too busy. Well, the real reason would probably be that there's not too much to report.
"I went to work today. Threw a shoe at a kid in 3rd period. Kid hit me in the back of the head with said shoe.
Another average day at work."
So, this is now a Travel Blog, and if I ain't travelling, I probably won't post any entries. That's ok, because let's be honest; my readership is about six people, half of which are family members, and the other readers (like Gregorio) only care about other countries and their food. So, my next entries will be of Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Park, all next week. Please send your complaints to my wife.
Site upgradeI helped Vanessa set up her new blog, vanessa.bdokko.com, which made me want to update some things on my site, too. She's having a lot of fun with it. I redid my Travel section, as well as the photo gallery. All of my old blog posts are still here, but those of you that were nice enough to leave comments, yeah, those comments didn't make the transition... Nor did everyone's guest book entries...
Hong Kong/Taiwan wrap-upOops, forgot to put a last post for this trip. Sorry if you still think I'm in Macau...
So I'm back, naturally, from my trip to China, alive and relatively well. I had some wicked jet lag on the way back, but other than that I'm good. I enjoyed Hong Kong more than I did Taipei, perhaps because the air quality irritated me so much in Taipei City. I tell you--those scooters do nothing for the air.
My last day in Hong Kong was mostly uneventful. We got back from Macau around noon, did some final shopping, picked up our suits from the tailor, then had dinner at (yet another) private club with Auntie Rebecca. I had some delicious Chinese food during my vacation, but I think I'm Chinese-food set for a while...
The economic turn-down is definitely global, and the manufacturing monster of China isn't exempt. There were sales everywhere, some considerable, yet you could tell it's only the tourists that are shopping. Interestingly, all the flights we were on were all sold out.
Anyway, that's it for my trip to Hong Kong and Taipei City. Thanks to my in-laws for their generosity in sending/taking us there, and also to Vanessa's many family member who took us out and showed us around. Now back to the daily grind of waking up early, eating "normal" food, and speaking English...
